Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Vikings: B.

Nobody had Tim Keenan III this high, and it is not close. The Vikings reached 26 spots to get him at the Round 4 slot. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

The Reese pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. Quarterback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick24 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In pick 24 they get a green-dot type in the middle at a price that makes it sweeter. More want than need.
Pick49 Rnd2 Dillon Thieneman
Dillon Thieneman in the 49th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick70 Rnd3 Connor Lew
Connor Lew in the 70th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick82 Rnd3 Keionte Scott
Keionte Scott slid further than he should have, and Round 3, Pick 18 is lovely value for the cornerback. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick97 Rnd3 Emmett Johnson
They let Emmett Johnson come to them and pounced at slot 97. The roster fit checks out.
Pick107 Rnd4 Tim Keenan III
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Tim Keenan III well ahead of where he belonged. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick161 Rnd5 Lander Barton
A straight-up fair deal on Lander Barton at pick 161, value and slot in agreement. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick194 Rnd6 Barion Brown
A premium they did not need to pay, Barion Brown a notch or two before his time. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick204 Rnd6 J. Michael Sturdivant
A conviction pick on J. Michael Sturdivant at the 204th overall pick that the board grades a round light. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick234 Rnd7 Jordan Hall
Jordan Hall at Round 7, Pick 18 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick240 Rnd7 Haynes King
No drama and no debate, Haynes King went about where he belonged in pick No. 240. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick248 Rnd7 Tosh Baker
Nice patience on Tosh Baker, who had no business lasting to slot 248. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
