The real work happened on the phones. The Bears fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with.

Spending an early pick on safety with interior defensive lineman, cornerback and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. They are betting Van Pran proves the room right and everyone else wrong.

The Shipley steal is the beam this whole class leans on.

Bottom line, with Rome Odunze leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
