Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B+
ValueA+ NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
Grand theft in Round 7, Pick 12: the Steelers steal Milum and grade out a B+.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Steelers watched Wyatt Milum slide 212 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B+.

The safety hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They went 5 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the safety spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick27 Rnd1 Travis Hunter
In the 27th overall pick they get an island corner, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
Pick59 Rnd2 Cam Ward
A quarterback of that caliber at the 59th pick is the definition of value, full stop. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick91 Rnd3 Ashton Jeanty
They barely believed it either: Ashton Jeanty still on the board at slot 91. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick128 Rnd4 Jahdae Barron
They robbed the room for Jahdae Barron here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick153 Rnd5 Jalon Walker
Jalon Walker at the Round 5 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick226 Rnd7 Wyatt Milum
Wyatt Milum in pick No. 226 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick240 Rnd7 T.J. Sanders
T.J. Sanders at Round 7, Pick 26 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
