The Chargers did not so much draft Bear Alexander as overpay for him, 42 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend.

Getting Slaughter where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.

The trade work was a quiet net positive. They left with interior defensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
