Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall A
ValueA- NeedB TradesA+ FutureA
The Chiefs cashed the board's mistake on Haulcy: A.

Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Chiefs came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close. Very little went wrong, and the A is earned.

That Haulcy pick is the receipt they will wave around later. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. The Najee Harris deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.

Trust the process, because this time the process plainly worked.

Pick Analysis
Pick22 Rnd1 Jeremiyah Love
In Round 1, Pick 22 they get a workhorse for the backfield, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick40 Rnd2 Kenyon Sadiq
Kenyon Sadiq in the 40th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick74 Rnd3 Deontae Lawson
Deontae Lawson slid further than he should have, and pick 74 is lovely value for the linebacker. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick86 Rnd3 A.J. Haulcy
Taking A.J. Haulcy in No. 86 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick109 Rnd4 Omar Cooper Jr.
Circle this one: Omar Cooper Jr. at pick No. 109 is a fall that decides a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick123 Rnd4 Xavier Scott
Xavier Scott at slot 123 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick146 Rnd5 J.C. Davis
No drama and no debate, J.C. Davis went about where he belonged in the 146th pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick176 Rnd5 Aaron Graves
Aaron Graves at the 176th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
