The phones sank the Commanders this weekend: D-.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Commanders did exactly that with Patrick Payton in the 147th pick. Hard to defend, and the D- reflects that.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

That Everette pick is the receipt they will wave around later. Adding Chris Braswell by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, wide receiver very much included.
