Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall B
ValueA- NeedB TradesC+ FutureB
The Commanders cashed the board's mistake on Evans: B.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Commanders watched Mitchell Evans slide 51 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. They are betting Hill proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick49 Rnd2 Omarion Hampton
Omarion Hampton in No. 49 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick67 Rnd3 Marcus Mbow
Nice patience on Marcus Mbow, who had no business lasting to pick No. 67. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick79 Rnd3 Tre Harris
Circle this one: Tre Harris at Round 3, Pick 15 is a fall that decides a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick103 Rnd4 Barrett Carter
Taking Barrett Carter in slot 103 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick118 Rnd4 Tommi Hill
Tommi Hill at the Round 4 slot is a conviction pick that outran the value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick154 Rnd5 Ajani Cornelius
A offensive lineman of that caliber at the 154th pick is the definition of value, full stop. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick195 Rnd6 Mitchell Evans
They barely believed it either: Mitchell Evans still on the board at pick 195. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick207 Rnd6 Jaylen Reed
Jaylen Reed in the 207th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick238 Rnd7 Kyle Williams
Somehow Kyle Williams was still sitting there in the 238th pick, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick250 Rnd7 Tonka Hemingway
Tonka Hemingway at No. 250 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
