RonJar63 DRAFTING FOR THEBrowns

Draft Grade — Browns
Overall
A
ValueB
NeedB+
TradesA+
FutureA+
The Browns found their guy under center in Sanders: A. The search is over. The Browns handed the keys to Shedeur Sanders, and the whole operation now runs on his development. The sum of the weekend is a deserved A.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.
The Broughton pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. It is not that Mondon Jr. is a bad player; it is that the Browns had louder needs to answer first.
On value alone, Hairston makes the weekend a net positive.
Bottom line, they did the job about as well as it can be done.
Pick Analysis
Pick7
Rnd1
Shedeur Sanders
They took Shedeur Sanders at par in No. 7, which is nothing to complain about. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick10
Rnd1
Will Campbell
In slot 10 they get protection for the quarterback at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick33
Rnd2
Colston Loveland
A slide stopped in the 33rd overall pick, with Colston Loveland worth more than the price. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick39
Rnd2
Emeka Egbuka
Nice patience on Emeka Egbuka, who had no business lasting to pick 39. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick41
Rnd2
Jalon Walker
Jalon Walker in the Round 2 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick42
Rnd2
Luther Burden III
Somehow Luther Burden III was still sitting there in pick No. 42, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick67
Rnd3
Omarr Norman-Lott
Omarr Norman-Lott at the 67th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick94
Rnd3
Maxwell Hairston
Maxwell Hairston in Round 3, Pick 30 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick111
Rnd4
Smael Mondon Jr.
Of all the spots to shop, they chose linebacker. Smael Mondon Jr. in pick 111 leaves edge rusher, safety and other spots for later.
Pick163
Rnd5
Vernon Broughton
A big swing on Vernon Broughton at pick No. 163, well ahead of any board in the building. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
