Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB+ FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Cowboys, and a B to prove it.

It is the swing that defines the weekend: Zion Logue in pick No. 219, a good 67 spots before the room expected him. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

On value alone, Torrence makes the weekend a net positive. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 JC Latham
In the 25th pick they get a cornerstone up front, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick57 Rnd2 Edgerrin Cooper
The board had Edgerrin Cooper higher than the 57th overall pick, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick87 Rnd3 Devontez Walker
Value with a capital V on Devontez Walker in pick 87, a genuine coup. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick91 Rnd3 Max Melton
Max Melton slid further than he should have, and the Round 3 slot is lovely value for the cornerback. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick125 Rnd4 Jalen McMillan
They barely believed it either: Jalen McMillan still on the board at slot 125. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick169 Rnd5 Dillon Johnson
They paid sticker price for Dillon Johnson in No. 169, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick174 Rnd5 Tanor Bortolini
They went early on Tanor Bortolini in the 174th pick, and the value did not follow. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick216 Rnd6 Keaton Bills
A wild overpay on Keaton Bills in the Round 6 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick219 Rnd6 Zion Logue
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Zion Logue well ahead of where he belonged. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick220 Rnd6 Curtis Jacobs
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Curtis Jacobs in No. 220, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick233 Rnd7 Ro Torrence
Steal is underselling it; Ro Torrence at pick 233 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick244 Rnd7 Evan Anderson
They reached a country mile for Evan Anderson at pick No. 244, and the board is aghast. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick246 Rnd7 Josh Proctor
Josh Proctor in the 246th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
