Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall

FutureA
The Steelers won the night they stopped Sanders from sliding. Grade: B-. Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Raheim Sanders got past him. The Steelers do not have to explain a thing at No. 223. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. Every board in the league had Bryant lower, and that gap is the story.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick57
Rnd2
Emeka Egbuka
Circle this one: Emeka Egbuka at No. 57 is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick83
Rnd3
Kaleb Johnson
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Kaleb Johnson in pick 83, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick121
Rnd4
Sebastian Castro
Sebastian Castro in Round 4, Pick 20 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick161
Rnd5
Tyler Cooper
They paid up for Tyler Cooper at pick No. 161 when waiting would have done the job. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick162
Rnd5
Cobee Bryant
Cobee Bryant at the 162nd pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick223
Rnd7
Raheim Sanders
They robbed the room for Raheim Sanders here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick229
Rnd7
Luke Lachey
Taking Luke Lachey in the Round 7 slot is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. The roster fit checks out.
Pick245
Rnd7
Kaden Prather
Kaden Prather at slot 245 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
