Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesC FutureB
Good, not great, for the Ravens: B.

You can hear the double-takes from here. The Ravens took Barryn Sorrell at Round 6, Pick 7, roughly 132 spots before his name belonged. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

That is a tight end worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick34 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Nick Emmanwori at No. 34. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick59 Rnd2 Marcus Mbow
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 2 slot with a little surplus value in Marcus Mbow. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick91 Rnd3 Jayden Higgins
Circle this one: Jayden Higgins at pick No. 91 is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick129 Rnd4 Jeffrey Bassa
No drama and no debate, Jeffrey Bassa went about where he belonged in pick 129. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick136 Rnd4 O'Donnell Fortune
A tidy bit of business in slot 136, where O'Donnell Fortune graded well above the range. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick176 Rnd5 JJ Pegues
They paid sticker price for JJ Pegues in Round 5, Pick 38, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick183 Rnd6 Barryn Sorrell
They reached into another round for Barryn Sorrell, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick203 Rnd6 Nohl Williams
You do not let a cornerback like Nohl Williams reach No. 203 and blink. They did not. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick210 Rnd6 Donovan Edwards
Donovan Edwards at pick No. 210 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The roster fit checks out.
Pick212 Rnd6 Nazir Stackhouse
Nazir Stackhouse in the 212th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick243 Rnd7 Jake Briningstool
The board fumbled Jake Briningstool all the way to the 243rd pick, and they scooped it up. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick246 Rnd7 Clay Webb
No edge and no loss on Clay Webb in slot 246; it is a wash and a sensible one. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
