DaHo DRAFTING FOR THEJets
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Jets
Overall
B
ValueB
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Jets won the night they stopped Tuten from sliding. Grade: B. The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Jets watched Bhayshul Tuten slide 35 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
For all the activity, cornerback went untouched, which is hard to explain. Reaching for Ewers left real value on the table behind him. Quarterback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the cornerback spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick7
Rnd1
James Pearce Jr.
In the 7th overall pick they get a disruptor off the edge at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick42
Rnd2
Tetairoa McMillan
Tetairoa McMillan at pick 42 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick73
Rnd3
Quinn Ewers
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Quinn Ewers. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick110
Rnd4
Jordan Phillips
Jordan Phillips at slot 110 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick145
Rnd5
Vernon Broughton
A clean, defensible pick in the 145th pick with a little surplus value in Vernon Broughton. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick156
Rnd5
Jonah Monheim
They took Jonah Monheim at par in pick No. 156, which is nothing to complain about. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick186
Rnd6
Bhayshul Tuten
They will replay Bhayshul Tuten at No. 186 for years; that is how good the value is. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick207
Rnd6
Upton Stout
Taking Upton Stout in Round 6, Pick 31 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
