jakim173 DRAFTING FOR THE49ers

FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the 49ers: B. Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The 49ers spent the Round 7 slot on Cooper Mays, a name the board had a full 48 spots lower. No fireworks, but a solid B.
The Greene III pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. Leaving wide receiver unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick15
Rnd1
Mykel Williams
In the Round 1 slot they get juice off the edge. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick27
Rnd1
Walter Nolen
In slot 27 they get a load in the middle at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick43
Rnd2
Aireontae Ersery
No drama and no debate, Aireontae Ersery went about where he belonged in No. 43. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick75
Rnd3
Demetrius Knight Jr.
Value with a capital V on Demetrius Knight Jr. in Round 3, Pick 11, a genuine coup. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick112
Rnd4
Denzel Burke
The board fumbled Denzel Burke all the way to the 112th pick, and they scooped it up. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick138
Rnd4
Terrance Ferguson
The board had Terrance Ferguson higher than pick 138, and the tight end fell to them anyway. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick189
Rnd6
Earnest Greene III
A offensive lineman of that caliber at No. 189 is the definition of value, full stop. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick228
Rnd7
Trevor Etienne
Trevor Etienne at pick No. 228 is money in the bank, a running back taken below his worth. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick232
Rnd7
Clay Webb
They jumped the gun on Clay Webb, taking him earlier than his grade liked. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick244
Rnd7
Cooper Mays
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Cooper Mays well ahead of where he belonged. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick255
Rnd7
Brady Cook
A reach for Brady Cook in pick 255; a little patience would have been rewarded. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
