Maye is the Commanders' new face under center. Grade: B-.

They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Drake Maye is the Commanders' quarterback, full stop.

However the rest shakes out, Harden at that price is a win they earned. They will need Paul to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Drake Maye
In the Round 1 slot they get their quarterback of the future. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick36 Rnd2 Patrick Paul
A wild overpay on Patrick Paul in pick 36, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick40 Rnd2 Javon Bullard
They paid up for Javon Bullard at the 40th pick when waiting would have done the job. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick67 Rnd3 Bralen Trice
Bralen Trice in pick No. 67 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The roster fit checks out.
Pick78 Rnd3 Roger Rosengarten
Roger Rosengarten at slot 78 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick100 Rnd3 Johnny Wilson
Johnny Wilson at the 100th overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick139 Rnd5 Brandon Coleman
You do not let an offensive lineman like Brandon Coleman reach No. 139 and blink. They did not. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick152 Rnd5 Jalyx Hunt
Circle this one: Jalyx Hunt at Round 5, Pick 16 is a fall that decides a draft. It fills a real need, too.
Pick222 Rnd7 Myles Harden
They will replay Myles Harden at the 222nd overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
