Draft Grade — Raiders

FutureA
More right than wrong for the Raiders, and a B to prove it. The Raiders treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending the 136th pick on Trey Zuhn III a full 81 spots early.
They banked enough surplus on Mateer to cover a lot of smaller sins. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick20
Rnd1
Caleb Downs
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Caleb Downs in the 20th pick, plain and simple. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick33
Rnd2
Olaivavega Ioane
They paid a round early for Olaivavega Ioane in No. 33, more than the board wanted. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick52
Rnd2
Jake Slaughter
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jake Slaughter in Round 2, Pick 20. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick65
Rnd3
Sonny Styles
You do not let a linebacker like Sonny Styles reach pick 65 and blink. They did not. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick101
Rnd4
John Mateer
John Mateer at slot 101 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick118
Rnd4
Bryce Lance
A straight-up fair deal on Bryce Lance at the 118th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick136
Rnd4
Trey Zuhn III
They talked themselves into Trey Zuhn III at the 136th pick, and the board did not agree. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
