Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Raiders left with their quarterback, and a B- to match.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Raiders spent their marquee pick on Fernando Mendoza, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

On value alone, Golday makes the weekend a net positive. For all the activity, cornerback went untouched, which is hard to explain. They will need Hurst to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the cornerback spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Fernando Mendoza
In Round 1, Pick 1 they get their quarterback of the future. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick36 Rnd2 LT Overton
LT Overton at No. 36 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick67 Rnd3 Lee Hunter
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Lee Hunter. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick102 Rnd4 Jake Golday
A edge rusher of that caliber at the Round 4 slot is the definition of value, full stop. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick117 Rnd4 Monroe Freeling
They did well to land Monroe Freeling in the 117th overall pick, just ahead of his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick135 Rnd4 Ted Hurst
A wild overpay on Ted Hurst in pick 135, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick176 Rnd5 Jaydn Ott
Fair-plus on Jaydn Ott, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The roster fit checks out.
