Draft Grade — Bills
Overall
B+
ValueA-

TradesA+
FutureB-
The Bills let Leonard fall and pounced. Final grade: B+. This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Riley Leonard, the No. 127 name on the board, stolen at No. 206. More right than wrong, and a B+ to match.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped linebacker, which is a strange place to end up. They went 4 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
The Jalin Hyatt pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
Good work on the whole, with linebacker the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick33
Rnd2
Kenneth Grant
A quiet steal in slot 33: Kenneth Grant for less than the market said. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick62
Rnd2
Xavier Watts
They robbed the room for Xavier Watts here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick65
Rnd3
Alfred Collins
Nice patience on Alfred Collins, who had no business lasting to Round 3, Pick 1. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick74
Rnd3
Maxwell Hairston
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Maxwell Hairston. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick99
Rnd3
Savion Williams
They let Savion Williams come to them and pounced at the 99th pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick132
Rnd4
Tai Felton
Tai Felton in the 132nd overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick169
Rnd5
Kevin Winston Jr.
Steal is underselling it; Kevin Winston Jr. at No. 169 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick170
Rnd5
Kevin Winston Jr.
Kevin Winston Jr. in the Round 5 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick173
Rnd5
Cobee Bryant
Somehow Cobee Bryant was still sitting there in slot 173, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick177
Rnd6
Riley Leonard
Riley Leonard at the Round 6 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The roster fit checks out.
Pick206
Rnd6
Riley Leonard
A quarterback of that caliber at pick No. 206 is the definition of value, full stop. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
