Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesA FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Browns, and a B to prove it.

Everything else got attention, and cornerback got none. That is a strange way for the Browns to leave a draft. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.

They are betting Klubnik proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Banks falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The trade work was a quiet net positive.

Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Carnell Tate
In Round 1, Pick 6 they get a go-to option on the outside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick31 Rnd1 Olaivavega Ioane
In the Round 1 slot they get a blindside protector, though they paid up to get him. A real need, handled.
Pick39 Rnd2 Caleb Banks
The board had Caleb Banks higher than pick 39, and the edge rusher fell to them anyway. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick63 Rnd2 Jake Slaughter
Jake Slaughter is a better player than pick No. 63 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick70 Rnd3 Cade Klubnik
Cade Klubnik at the 70th pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick107 Rnd4 Chase Bisontis
Chase Bisontis in the 107th overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick139 Rnd5 Max Iheanachor
Max Iheanachor in slot 139 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It fills a real need, too.
Pick144 Rnd5 Jaden Greathouse
Nothing to complain about; Jaden Greathouse went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick147 Rnd5 Bryce Boettcher
They jumped the gun on Bryce Boettcher, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick204 Rnd6 Tristan Leigh
A straight-up fair deal on Tristan Leigh at pick 204, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick248 Rnd7 Rueben Owens II
Rueben Owens II in the 248th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A need, and now a little less of one.
