Draft Grade — Browns
Overall D
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureB
The Browns let Colson fall and pounced. Final grade: D.

The Browns lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. It grades a D, and the process earned it.

The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Browns indulged a want in Colson while a need in quarterback and edge rusher stayed open.

That Colson pick is the receipt they will wave around later.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, quarterback very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Brock Bowers
In the 12th overall pick they get a red-zone target to build around. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick27 Rnd1 Kool-Aid McKinstry
In slot 27 they get a press-man option on the boundary, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick55 Rnd2 Edgerrin Cooper
No edge and no loss on Edgerrin Cooper in pick 55; it is a wash and a sensible one. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick76 Rnd3 Malachi Corley
They took Malachi Corley at par in No. 76, which is nothing to complain about. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick86 Rnd3 Braden Fiske
Fair-plus on Braden Fiske, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick105 Rnd4 Tyler Davis
The board had Tyler Davis higher than Round 4, Pick 5, and the interior defensive lineman fell to them anyway. The roster fit checks out.
Pick114 Rnd4 Junior Colson
A curious use of pick 114. Quarterback and edge rusher needed the pick; a linebacker in Junior Colson did not.
Pick126 Rnd4 Sataoa Laumea
Sataoa Laumea at the 126th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick156 Rnd5 Luke McCaffrey
A slide stopped in the 156th overall pick, with Luke McCaffrey worth more than the price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick195 Rnd6 Frank Gore Jr.
They robbed the room for Frank Gore Jr. here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick203 Rnd6 Josh Proctor
They did well to land Josh Proctor in the Round 6 slot, just ahead of his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick205 Rnd6 Daijahn Anthony
Nice patience on Daijahn Anthony, who had no business lasting to slot 205. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick208 Rnd6 Christian Jones
A straight-up fair deal on Christian Jones at pick No. 208, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick228 Rnd7 De'Corian Clark
A quiet steal in No. 228: De'Corian Clark for less than the market said. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
