Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureB
The Commanders cashed the board's mistake on Gordon II: B+.

This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Ollie Gordon II, the No. 168 name on the board, stolen at pick 206. Call it a sensible B+, earned the boring way.

The Griffith reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Nic Scourton
In the 30th overall pick they get a problem off the edge at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick68 Rnd3 Andrew Mukuba
They took Andrew Mukuba at par in the 68th pick, which is nothing to complain about. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick79 Rnd3 Isaiah Bond
You do not let a wide receiver like Isaiah Bond reach slot 79 and blink. They did not. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick107 Rnd4 Carson Schwesinger
Carson Schwesinger at No. 107 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick148 Rnd5 Ajani Cornelius
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Ajani Cornelius in Round 5, Pick 9, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick175 Rnd5 Cobee Bryant
They paid sticker price for Cobee Bryant in pick No. 175, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick206 Rnd6 Ollie Gordon II
They will replay Ollie Gordon II at pick 206 for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick207 Rnd6 Woody Marks
Steal is underselling it; Woody Marks at the Round 6 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick238 Rnd7 Jake Briningstool
By-the-book stuff, Jake Briningstool at Round 7, Pick 20 squarely in line with his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick250 Rnd7 Jacob Parrish
Jacob Parrish in slot 250 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick256 Rnd7 Thor Griffith
Thor Griffith at the 256th pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A need, and now a little less of one.
