The tape said wait; the Commanders did not. Hykeem Williams went at No. 227, a good 46 picks before the board was ready.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up. The Tyrel Dodson pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.

It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.
