Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D
ValueB NeedB- TradesF FutureB+
The Bears answered their biggest question with Williams. Grade: D.

Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Bears, and the value they bled adds up to real damage.

They have staked the next five years on Caleb Williams, which is the only story that really matters here. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. Johnson has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

The Rakestraw Jr. pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.

Bottom line, they will be counting on several picks to beat their grades.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In the 1st overall pick they get their guy under center for the next decade. A real need, handled.
Pick34 Rnd2 Troy Franklin
They did well to land Troy Franklin in the 34th pick, just ahead of his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick51 Rnd2 Keon Coleman
Keon Coleman slipping to the Round 2 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick68 Rnd3 Ennis Rakestraw Jr.
Ennis Rakestraw Jr. at No. 68 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick75 Rnd3 Zach Frazier
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Zach Frazier in Round 3, Pick 11. The roster fit checks out.
Pick84 Rnd3 Kingsley Suamataia
A offensive lineman of that caliber at pick No. 84 is the definition of value, full stop. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick96 Rnd3 Kamren Kinchens
Kamren Kinchens in slot 96 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick109 Rnd4 Isaac Guerendo
No drama and no debate, Isaac Guerendo went about where he belonged in pick 109. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick121 Rnd4 Theo Johnson
They paid a round early for Theo Johnson in the 121st overall pick, more than the board wanted. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick197 Rnd6 Layden Robinson
Somehow Layden Robinson was still sitting there in pick 197, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
