Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Smael Mondon Jr. got past him. The Bears do not have to explain a thing at the 199th overall pick. They moved the roster forward and banked a B+ for it.

They are betting Conner proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck.

They punted on cornerback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
