Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Commanders: B-.

The rest of the league had time to spare on Patrick Payton; the Commanders did not wait, grabbing him 52 spots ahead at Round 6, Pick 6. No fireworks, but a solid B-.

For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain. Landing Mills that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the wide receiver spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick7 Rnd1 Caleb Downs
In pick No. 7 they get a centerfielder for the defense. Need was not the driver here.
Pick71 Rnd3 Daylen Everette
Good price on Daylen Everette in the 71st overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick146 Rnd5 Sammy Omosigho
Sammy Omosigho in the Round 5 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick187 Rnd6 Patrick Payton
They reached into another round for Patrick Payton, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick197 Rnd6 Monroe Mills
Value with a capital V on Monroe Mills in slot 197, a genuine coup. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick223 Rnd7 Bryce Foster
A big swing on Bryce Foster at pick 223, well ahead of any board in the building. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
