KevinRoll DRAFTING FOR THECommanders
Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall

Best value of the weekend goes to the Commanders for Henderson: B-. Somebody in slot 79 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Commanders sat still while TreVeyon Henderson, the No. 55 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They will need Porter to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
On the needs board they went 3 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick29
Rnd1
Shemar Stewart
In the 29th pick they get a bendy edge with upside. A real need, handled.
Pick61
Rnd2
Darien Porter
Value said wait; Darien Porter in the Round 2 slot says they were not listening. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick79
Rnd3
TreVeyon Henderson
They robbed the room for TreVeyon Henderson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick148
Rnd5
Cody Simon
Nice patience on Cody Simon, who had no business lasting to the 148th overall pick. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
