Draft Grade — Rams
Overall C
ValueC- NeedB TradesC- FutureB-
Flashes of a plan, unevenly executed. Rams: C.

Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Rams spent the Round 7 slot on Seth Henigan, a name most had 220 spots down the list. It washes out to a C, no better and no worse.

The Parrish pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at interior defensive lineman and edge rusher. The Hunter value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

The trades cost them a sliver of value they did not need to spend.

Bottom line, the swing picks will decide whether this ages well.

Pick Analysis
Pick59 Rnd2 Carson Schwesinger
They jumped the gun on Carson Schwesinger, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick90 Rnd3 Kevin Winston Jr.
A premium they did not need to pay, Kevin Winston Jr. a notch or two before his time. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick101 Rnd3 Anthony Belton
They went early on Anthony Belton in No. 101, and the value did not follow. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick127 Rnd4 Nohl Williams
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Nohl Williams at the Round 4 slot. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick129 Rnd4 Jacob Parrish
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went cornerback with Jacob Parrish while clear needs at interior defensive lineman and edge rusher sat open.
Pick136 Rnd4 Isaac TeSlaa
This one needs a full-page explanation: Isaac TeSlaa in the 136th pick, miles early. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick176 Rnd5 Chase Lundt
Chase Lundt in the 176th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick195 Rnd6 Thomas Fidone II
They liked Thomas Fidone II enough to skip the value, taking him in the 195th pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick201 Rnd6 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
A quiet steal in Round 6, Pick 25: Dont'e Thornton Jr. for less than the market said. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick202 Rnd6 Karene Reid
A conviction pick on Karene Reid at slot 202 that the board grades a round light. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick204 Rnd6 Kain Medrano
Kain Medrano at the Round 6 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick210 Rnd6 Jarquez Hunter
Jarquez Hunter in pick No. 210 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick217 Rnd7 Seth Henigan
A big swing on Seth Henigan at No. 217, well ahead of any board in the building. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick243 Rnd7 Teddye Buchanan
The board had cheaper options than Teddye Buchanan at pick 243, and it noticed. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
