Draft Grade — Bears
Overall

FutureC
The Bears turned the phones into found money: B. There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Bears started one anyway for Tyreak Sapp, 103 picks ahead of schedule.
The Hampton steal is the beam this whole class leans on. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. They will regret leaving cornerback for another day if the season turns on it.
Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick12
Rnd1
Jack Sawyer
In the 12th overall pick they get juice off the edge, reach and all. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick39
Rnd2
Tyler Booker
Tyler Booker at the 39th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick55
Rnd2
Alfred Collins
Alfred Collins in pick 55 is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick62
Rnd2
Omarion Hampton
They will replay Omarion Hampton at Round 2, Pick 30 for years; that is how good the value is. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick72
Rnd3
Malachi Moore
Malachi Moore in pick No. 72 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick76
Rnd3
Hollin Pierce
They left a pile of value on the table to take Hollin Pierce this early at the Round 3 slot. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick81
Rnd3
Gunnar Helm
Value with a capital V on Gunnar Helm in pick No. 81, a genuine coup. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick95
Rnd3
Hayden Conner
A real head-scratcher, Hayden Conner in the 95th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick128
Rnd4
Smael Mondon Jr.
They barely believed it either: Smael Mondon Jr. still on the board at pick 128. The roster fit checks out.
Pick130
Rnd4
Jake Majors
Circle this one: Jake Majors at the 130th pick is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick147
Rnd5
Seth McLaughlin
Seth McLaughlin in slot 147 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It fills a real need, too.
Pick164
Rnd5
Tyreak Sapp
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Tyreak Sapp. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
