Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall D-
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureB-
A passer of the future in Mendoza, and a D-, for the Raiders.

Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Raiders, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. A D- that will need time and luck to look better.

So much rides on Fernando Mendoza that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up. They will need Young to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

Getting Wheatley where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Fernando Mendoza
No drama and no debate, Fernando Mendoza went about where he belonged in Round 1, Pick 1. It fills a real need, too.
Pick29 Rnd1 Kayden McDonald
In the 29th overall pick they get a disruptive interior force. A real need, handled.
Pick36 Rnd2 Zion Young
They jumped the gun on Zion Young, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick61 Rnd2 Lee Hunter
They liked Lee Hunter enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 61. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick67 Rnd3 Omar Cooper Jr.
Omar Cooper Jr. in slot 67 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick93 Rnd3 Zakee Wheatley
They barely believed it either: Zakee Wheatley still on the board at the 93rd pick. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick102 Rnd4 Jake Golday
Jake Golday at No. 102 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick117 Rnd4 Xavier Scott
Value with a capital V on Xavier Scott in the Round 4 slot, a genuine coup. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick135 Rnd4 CJ Daniels
They paid sticker price for CJ Daniels in pick 135, and that is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick168 Rnd5 Jaydn Ott
Jaydn Ott in the Round 5 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The roster fit checks out.
Pick176 Rnd5 Pat Coogan
Pat Coogan in No. 176 is fair value, right on his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
