Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureA+
A costly weekend of dealing drags the Patriots to a B-.

The Patriots torched the value chart for Austin Stogner, taking him 117 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.

They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. Bullock falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick32 Rnd1 Troy Fautanu
In the 32nd pick they get an anchor for the offensive line, and a steal at that.
Pick34 Rnd2 Kool-Aid McKinstry
A tidy bit of business in pick 34, where Kool-Aid McKinstry graded well above the range. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick37 Rnd2 Ladd McConkey
Good price on Ladd McConkey in slot 37, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick64 Rnd2 Adisa Isaac
Adisa Isaac at the 64th overall pick is money in the bank, a edge rusher taken below his worth. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick68 Rnd3 Malachi Corley
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Malachi Corley at No. 68. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick95 Rnd3 Calen Bullock
Calen Bullock slipping to Round 3, Pick 32 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick103 Rnd4 Christian Mahogany
Christian Mahogany at pick No. 103 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick110 Rnd4 Michael Pratt
Michael Pratt in pick 110 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick137 Rnd5 Ben Sinnott
Ben Sinnott at the 137th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick180 Rnd6 Grayson Murphy
Grayson Murphy at slot 180 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick193 Rnd6 Ty'Ron Hopper
Ty'Ron Hopper in the 193rd pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick225 Rnd7 Austin Reed
This one needs a full-page explanation: Austin Reed in Round 7, Pick 5, miles early. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick231 Rnd7 Austin Stogner
They talked themselves into Austin Stogner at No. 231, and the board did not agree. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
