Draft Grade — Patriots

FutureB
The Patriots checked most of the boxes and earned a B. Some picks age like wine; Trey Moore at slot 131 will need to, sitting 60 spots clear of his grade. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
The Lew steal is the beam this whole class leans on. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick38
Rnd2
Dillon Thieneman
Dillon Thieneman at the 38th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick63
Rnd2
Germie Bernard
A straight-up fair deal on Germie Bernard at Round 2, Pick 31, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick95
Rnd3
Connor Lew
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Connor Lew in the Round 3 slot, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
Pick118
Rnd4
Deion Burks
Deion Burks slipping to pick No. 118 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick125
Rnd4
J.C. Davis
No edge and no loss on J.C. Davis in pick 125; it is a wash and a sensible one. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick131
Rnd4
Trey Moore
A big swing on Trey Moore at the 131st pick, well ahead of any board in the building. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick155
Rnd5
Patrick Payton
Patrick Payton at pick 155 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick169
Rnd5
Eric O'Neill
Value said wait; Eric O'Neill in Round 5, Pick 31 says they were not listening. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick189
Rnd6
Nate Boerkircher
Nate Boerkircher in pick No. 189 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It fills a real need, too.
Pick200
Rnd6
Thaddeus Dixon
The board had Thaddeus Dixon higher than the 200th overall pick, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick207
Rnd6
Miller Moss
They read the board right and Miller Moss was the payoff at the 207th pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick210
Rnd6
Trebor Pena
Value with a capital V on Trebor Pena in the Round 6 slot, a genuine coup. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick212
Rnd6
Nolan Rucci
By-the-book stuff, Nolan Rucci at slot 212 squarely in line with his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick247
Rnd7
Ethan O'Connor
A reasonable price with a little left over, Ethan O'Connor in No. 247. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
