Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall B
ValueB NeedB- TradesB FutureB
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Seahawks a B.

The war room fell hard for Jaleel Johnson, and it showed at the Round 6 slot: 47 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas.

The Bowen steal is the beam this whole class leans on. The Sharpe pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at wide receiver and quarterback. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through wide receiver.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick29 Rnd1 Will Echoles
In pick No. 29 they get a disruptive interior force at a price that makes it sweeter.
Pick54 Rnd2 Kade Pieper
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Kade Pieper in the 54th overall pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick85 Rnd3 Greg Johnson
Greg Johnson at Round 3, Pick 21 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick86 Rnd3 Jamari Sharpe
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending the Round 3 slot on Jamari Sharpe with wide receiver and quarterback unsolved.
Pick93 Rnd3 Raleek Brown
They paid sticker price for Raleek Brown in slot 93, and that is fine. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick101 Rnd3 Peter Clarke
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Peter Clarke adds a tight end and leaves wide receiver and quarterback untouched.
Pick102 Rnd3 Peyton Bowen
A want over a need in pick No. 102: Peyton Bowen adds a safety while wide receiver and quarterback keeps waiting.
Pick135 Rnd4 Trey White
Trey White in the Round 4 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick161 Rnd5 Whit Weeks
Whit Weeks at No. 161 is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. The roster logic is harder to follow.
Pick173 Rnd5 Mateen Ibirogba
Mateen Ibirogba in the 173rd pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick204 Rnd6 Edwin Spillman
Edwin Spillman in slot 204 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Hard to map this one onto the depth chart at all.
Pick205 Rnd6 Jaleel Johnson
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jaleel Johnson this early at pick 205. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
