Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB+ FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Jaguars: B.

The Jaguars treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending Round 6, Pick 20 on DeMonte Capehart a full 70 spots early. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.

However the rest shakes out, Rice at that price is a win they earned. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Taliese Fuaga
In No. 25 they get an anchor for the offensive line, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick57 Rnd2 Jackson Powers-Johnson
Nothing to complain about; Jackson Powers-Johnson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick58 Rnd2 Xavier Worthy
Xavier Worthy slipping to the Round 2 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick79 Rnd3 Justin Eboigbe
This one needs a full-page explanation: Justin Eboigbe in pick 79, miles early. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick90 Rnd3 Trey Benson
They barely believed it either: Trey Benson still on the board at pick No. 90. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick96 Rnd3 Brenden Rice
Brenden Rice at slot 96 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick114 Rnd4 Dominick Puni
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Dominick Puni in pick 114. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick116 Rnd4 James Williams
James Williams in No. 116 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. The roster fit checks out.
Pick125 Rnd4 Jordan Jefferson
They reached a country mile for Jordan Jefferson at the 125th overall pick, and the board is aghast. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick155 Rnd5 Jaylin Simpson
A quiet steal in the 155th pick: Jaylin Simpson for less than the market said. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick163 Rnd5 Nehemiah Pritchett
Circle this one: Nehemiah Pritchett at Round 5, Pick 27 is a fall that decides a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick195 Rnd6 DeMonte Capehart
DeMonte Capehart in the Round 6 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick211 Rnd6 Jared Wiley
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jared Wiley at slot 211 is the proof. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick237 Rnd7 Steele Chambers
Steele Chambers slid further than he should have, and pick No. 237 is lovely value for the linebacker. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick247 Rnd7 McKade Mettauer
A wild overpay on McKade Mettauer in pick No. 247, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
