Draft Grade — Chargers
Overall

FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Chargers: B-. When the story of this class is written, it opens with Sam Hartman at the 227th pick, a reach of 34 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. On value alone, Wilson makes the weekend a net positive. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick6
Rnd1
Brock Bowers
Brock Bowers in the Round 1 slot is fair value, right on his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick38
Rnd2
Johnny Wilson
Johnny Wilson slipping to pick 38 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick70
Rnd3
TreVeyon Henderson
They went early on TreVeyon Henderson in Round 3, Pick 6, and the value did not follow. It fills a real need, too.
Pick106
Rnd4
Braelon Allen
Braelon Allen at the 106th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. The roster fit checks out.
Pick143
Rnd5
Ben Sinnott
Ben Sinnott in the 143rd overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick184
Rnd6
Keith Randolph Jr.
They paid a round early for Keith Randolph Jr. in slot 184, more than the board wanted. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick227
Rnd7
Sam Hartman
Sam Hartman in Round 7, Pick 7 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
