Larceny in the 113th overall pick lands the Titans a A-, Cooper and all. The Titans did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Edgerrin Cooper fell into pick 113.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. Harrell has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through running back.
Bottom line, they left the weekend a clearly better team, and they earned every bit of it.
Pick Analysis
Pick13
Rnd1
Dallas Turner
In the 13th overall pick they get a double-digit-sack hope at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick38
Rnd2
Tyler Guyton
Tyler Guyton at pick 38 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick44
Rnd2
Xavier Worthy
A straight-up fair deal on Xavier Worthy at the 44th pick, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick107
Rnd4
Mike Sainristil
Circle this one: Mike Sainristil at the Round 4 slot is a fall that decides a draft. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick113
Rnd4
Edgerrin Cooper
A linebacker of that caliber at Round 4, Pick 13 is the definition of value, full stop. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick141
Rnd5
James Williams
Fair-plus on James Williams, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick184
Rnd6
Aki Ogunbiyi
Aki Ogunbiyi at No. 184 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick189
Rnd6
Jaylen Harrell
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jaylen Harrell in slot 189, miles early. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick225
Rnd7
Chau Smith-Wade
Chau Smith-Wade at No. 225 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
