A franchise passer in Sanders headlines a D weekend for the Cowboys.

They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Jamaree Caldwell, 105 picks early at the 171st pick. Too much went sideways, and the D is the honest tally.

That is a running back worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. Whatever Shedeur Sanders becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer.

The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. A whole weekend of picks and cornerback is somehow still a want.

The Cowboys indulged a want in Winston Jr. while a need in cornerback and tight end stayed open.
