Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Bengals let Pritchett fall and pounced. Final grade: B-.

The Bengals did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Nehemiah Pritchett fell into the Round 5 slot. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.

The Horton reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick24 Rnd1 Amarius Mims
In Round 1, Pick 24 they get a blindside protector at fair value.
Pick56 Rnd2 Kris Jenkins
A straight-up fair deal on Kris Jenkins at No. 56, value and slot in agreement. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick88 Rnd3 Tory Horton
They talked themselves into Tory Horton at slot 88, and the board did not agree. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick124 Rnd4 Cade Stover
Cade Stover in the 124th pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick161 Rnd5 Nehemiah Pritchett
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Nehemiah Pritchett in pick 161, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick173 Rnd5 Ty'Ron Hopper
No edge and no loss on Ty'Ron Hopper in the Round 5 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick202 Rnd6 Zion Tupuola-Fetui
They paid sticker price for Zion Tupuola-Fetui in pick No. 202, and that is fine. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick245 Rnd7 Sam Hartman
They went early on Sam Hartman in the 245th overall pick, and the value did not follow. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick254 Rnd7 Miyan Williams
They took Miyan Williams at par in pick No. 254, which is nothing to complain about. It fills a real need, too.
