Draft Grade — Bears
Overall A-
ValueB+ NeedB TradesA+ FutureB
The Bears won the night they stopped Perkins Jr. from sliding. Grade: A-.

You could see the war room lean forward. Harold Perkins Jr. at the Round 6 slot is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. Little to argue with here, and the A- says so.

The Dennis-Sutton pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

A strong weekend's work, and a rare one to find this little fault with.

Pick Analysis
Pick19 Rnd1 Mason Graham
In the 19th overall pick they get a load in the middle at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick36 Rnd2 Tate Ratledge
A clean, defensible pick in Round 2, Pick 4 with a little surplus value in Tate Ratledge. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick41 Rnd2 Tre Harris
Tre Harris in pick No. 41 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick45 Rnd2 Tyler Warren
Tyler Warren at pick 45 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick73 Rnd3 Kaleb Johnson
They barely believed it either: Kaleb Johnson still on the board at the 73rd pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick84 Rnd3 Dani Dennis-Sutton
This one needs a full-page explanation: Dani Dennis-Sutton in No. 84, miles early. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick146 Rnd5 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. at the Round 5 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick203 Rnd6 Harold Perkins Jr.
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Harold Perkins Jr. in slot 203, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick228 Rnd7 Xavier Nwankpa
Taking Xavier Nwankpa in Round 7, Pick 14 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick244 Rnd7 Jared Wilson
The board fumbled Jared Wilson all the way to slot 244, and they scooped it up. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
