Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
A masterclass at the trade table lands the Bears a B.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Bears reached some 67 spots for Barion Brown, and value like that does not grow back. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The running back spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Reese. The Haulcy pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with running back and quarterback still on the board.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In slot 30 they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
Pick56 Rnd2 Dillon Thieneman
They did well to land Dillon Thieneman in Round 2, Pick 24, just ahead of his grade. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick87 Rnd3 A.J. Haulcy
Of all the spots to shop, they chose safety. A.J. Haulcy in pick No. 87 leaves running back and quarterback for later.
Pick88 Rnd3 Kenyatta Jackson Jr.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Kenyatta Jackson Jr. this early at No. 88. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick115 Rnd4 Derrick Moore
Derrick Moore in the 115th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick155 Rnd5 Iapani Laloulu
By-the-book stuff, Iapani Laloulu at pick 155 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick179 Rnd5 Barion Brown
Barion Brown at No. 179 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The roster fit checks out.
Pick236 Rnd7 James Smith
The board had cheaper options than James Smith at slot 236, and it noticed. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick238 Rnd7 Elliot Washington II
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Elliot Washington II well ahead of where he belonged. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
