The Cowboys lost the trade table, and the D tells the story.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Cowboys did exactly that with Tyler Batty in the 186th overall pick. Too much went sideways, and the D is the honest tally.

That Simon pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up.

In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.
