Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
Larceny in pick 213 lands the Steelers a B-, Beck and all.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Carson Beck tumbling to the Steelers in the Round 6 slot is a gift they did not have to think twice about. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. The Steelers indulged a want in Bisontis while a need in interior defensive lineman and edge rusher stayed open. The Green reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Makai Lemon
In pick No. 20 they get a difference-maker at receiver. A real need, handled.
Pick51 Rnd2 Arch Manning
Arch Manning at pick 51 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick76 Rnd3 Cayden Green
A premium they did not need to pay, Cayden Green a notch or two before his time. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick84 Rnd3 Deontae Lawson
Value with a capital V on Deontae Lawson in the 84th pick, a genuine coup. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick99 Rnd3 Keon Sabb
Keon Sabb in the 99th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick119 Rnd4 Brendan Sorsby
Brendan Sorsby at the Round 4 slot is money in the bank, a quarterback taken below his worth. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick133 Rnd4 Chase Bisontis
A curious use of No. 133. Interior defensive lineman and edge rusher needed the pick; an offensive lineman in Chase Bisontis did not.
Pick160 Rnd5 Hollywood Smothers
Hollywood Smothers at slot 160 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick197 Rnd6 Antonio Kite
A reasonable price with a little left over, Antonio Kite in Round 6, Pick 19. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick212 Rnd6 Tree Babalade
A clean, defensible pick in slot 212 with a little surplus value in Tree Babalade. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick213 Rnd6 Carson Beck
You do not let a quarterback like Carson Beck reach the Round 6 slot and blink. They did not. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick234 Rnd7 Shamar Easter
No drama and no debate, Shamar Easter went about where he belonged in pick 234. The roster fit checks out.
