Lew should have been long gone. The Commanders pounced, and earned a B.

Somebody in Round 2, Pick 30 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Commanders sat still while Connor Lew, the No. 39 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain. The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.

The back end got a real overhaul.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Taylen Green at pick No. 184 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick188 Rnd6 Jermaine Mathews Jr.
A tidy little value on Jermaine Mathews Jr. in slot 188, a step better than break-even. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.

Nice patience on Quintrevion Wisner, who had no business lasting to No. 223. It fills a real need, too.
