Draft Grade — Lions
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Lions: B.

There is reaching, and then there is Blake Fisher at pick 99. The Lions jumped the board by 20 and dared it to prove them wrong. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.

The safety hole is the one line item this class does not answer. That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick29 Rnd1 Quinyon Mitchell
They read the board right and Quinyon Mitchell was the payoff at pick No. 29. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick61 Rnd2 Zach Frazier
They took Zach Frazier at par in No. 61, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick99 Rnd3 Blake Fisher
They talked themselves into Blake Fisher at Round 3, Pick 36, and the board did not agree. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick154 Rnd5 Xavier Thomas
A reach for Xavier Thomas in pick 154; a little patience would have been rewarded. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick164 Rnd5 Luke McCaffrey
A tidy bit of business in slot 164, where Luke McCaffrey graded well above the range. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick201 Rnd6 Jared Wiley
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jared Wiley. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick205 Rnd6 Logan Lee
Logan Lee in Round 6, Pick 30 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick249 Rnd7 Bub Means
Bub Means at the Round 7 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
