Of all the ways to open, the Titans chose the head-scratcher, spending the 106th pick on Maason Smith with edge rusher, interior defensive lineman and other spots still wide open. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.

The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Getting Smith where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
