Thirty-one other rooms let Lathan Ransom slide, and the 49ers were the ones holding the card at Round 5, Pick 9. Highway robbery. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.

Reaching for Jackson left real value on the table behind him. They punted on running back, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with offensive lineman chief among the fixes.

Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.
