FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B for the Lions. Nobody else had Cedric Johnson anywhere near the 205th overall pick. The Lions did, by 22 spots, and that gap is the whole story. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
The safety hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Cooper value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but safety.
Pick Analysis
Pick22
Rnd1
Quinyon Mitchell
In No. 22 they get a ballhawk on the outside at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick61
Rnd2
Edgerrin Cooper
Nice patience on Edgerrin Cooper, who had no business lasting to Round 2, Pick 29. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick164
Rnd5
Khristian Boyd
They jumped the gun on Khristian Boyd, taking him earlier than his grade liked. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick201
Rnd6
Trente Jones
Good price on Trente Jones in pick No. 201, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick205
Rnd6
Cedric Johnson
A real head-scratcher, Cedric Johnson in the Round 6 slot is miles ahead of his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick253
Rnd7
Bub Means
A slide stopped in pick 253, with Bub Means worth more than the price. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
