Draft Grade — Bears
Overall

ValueC+

FutureB
A masterclass at the trade table lands the Bears a B+. Boards are made to be trusted, and the Bears shredded theirs for Jared Wiley. He came off 71 spots early, and the room will hear about it. The bottom line is a respectable B+.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want.
The Bears clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick8
Rnd1
Rome Odunze
In slot 8 they get a go-to option on the outside. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick10
Rnd1
Olumuyiwa Fashanu
In the 10th overall pick they get protection for the quarterback at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick11
Rnd1
Laiatu Latu
In the Round 1 slot they get a double-digit-sack hope at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick38
Rnd2
Zach Frazier
Zach Frazier at pick No. 38 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick39
Rnd2
T'Vondre Sweat
A real head-scratcher, T'Vondre Sweat in No. 39 is miles ahead of his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick75
Rnd3
Jamari Thrash
Jamari Thrash at Round 3, Pick 11 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick86
Rnd3
Zak Zinter
They paid up for Zak Zinter at the Round 3 slot when waiting would have done the job. The roster fit checks out.
Pick111
Rnd4
Darius Robinson
They went early on Darius Robinson in pick No. 111, and the value did not follow. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick123
Rnd4
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint
Value said wait; Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint in slot 123 says they were not listening. It fills a real need, too.
Pick132
Rnd4
Jaylin Simpson
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jaylin Simpson. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick143
Rnd5
Jared Wiley
They reached into another round for Jared Wiley, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick214
Rnd6
Steele Chambers
Steele Chambers in the 214th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
