Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Seahawks and Speights: B+.

The Seahawks ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided.

Speights at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They will answer for taking TE-EDGE early while quarterback, running back and other spots went begging. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

They are betting Stover proves the room right and everyone else wrong.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick21 Rnd1 Nate Wiggins
In the Round 1 slot they get a potential shutdown corner. More want than need.
Pick53 Rnd2 Jonah Elliss
No edge and no loss on Jonah Elliss in the 53rd overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick78 Rnd3 Mekhi Wingo
A reasonable price with a little left over, Mekhi Wingo in Round 3, Pick 14. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick81 Rnd3 Rod Moore
Rod Moore slipping to pick 81 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick118 Rnd4 Cade Stover
A want over a need in slot 118: Cade Stover adds a TE-EDGE while quarterback, running back and other spots keeps waiting.
Pick154 Rnd5 Layden Robinson
By-the-book stuff, Layden Robinson at No. 154 squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick194 Rnd6 Ben Bywater
The board had Ben Bywater higher than the 194th pick, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick236 Rnd7 Omar Speights
They will replay Omar Speights at pick 236 for years; that is how good the value is. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick242 Rnd7 Isaiah Williams
You do not let a wide receiver like Isaiah Williams reach Round 7, Pick 22 and blink. They did not. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
