Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall

FutureB-
The Cowboys let Allar fall into their laps, and walked away with a D-. Nobody else had Shemar Turner anywhere near Round 5, Pick 13. The Cowboys did, by 39 spots, and that gap is the whole story. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D-.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Allar. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere.
It is not that Dennis-Sutton is a bad player; it is that the Cowboys had louder needs to answer first. The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.
Pick Analysis
Pick13
Rnd1
Will Campbell
In pick 13 they get an anchor for the offensive line, reach and all. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick44
Rnd2
Abdul Carter
Nothing to complain about; Abdul Carter went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick45
Rnd2
Isaiah Bond
The board had Isaiah Bond higher than slot 45, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick69
Rnd3
Ollie Gordon II
Ollie Gordon II in the Round 3 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick73
Rnd3
Donovan Jackson
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 73, where Donovan Jackson graded well above the range. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick77
Rnd3
Nicholas Singleton
Nicholas Singleton at Round 3, Pick 13 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick102
Rnd4
Lander Barton
They jumped the gun on Lander Barton, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick113
Rnd4
Dani Dennis-Sutton
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went edge rusher with Dani Dennis-Sutton while clear needs at tight end and interior defensive lineman sat open.
Pick151
Rnd5
Shemar Turner
Shemar Turner at pick 151 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick169
Rnd5
Davison Igbinosun
They left a pile of value on the table to take Davison Igbinosun this early at the Round 5 slot. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick170
Rnd5
Nic Anderson
No edge and no loss on Nic Anderson in slot 170; it is a wash and a sensible one. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick172
Rnd5
Drew Allar
Taking Drew Allar in the 172nd pick is close to grand larceny; a quarterback that good had no business lasting this long. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick188
Rnd6
Shilo Sanders
They talked themselves into Shilo Sanders at Round 6, Pick 13, and the board did not agree. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick209
Rnd6
Kyren Lacy
Kyren Lacy at the 209th pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
