There is conviction, and then there is this. The Cowboys took Vincent Anthony Jr. a full 65 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. The math is unkind, and the D follows.

They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. The Cowboys indulged a want in Haulcy while a need in tight end and interior defensive lineman stayed open.

That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Getting Neal where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.
