Slasky80 DRAFTING FOR THEBears

Draft Grade — Bears
Overall

FutureB-
A masterclass at the trade table lands the Bears a B. There is reaching, and then there is Barryn Sorrell at pick 189. The Bears jumped the board by 92 and dared it to prove them wrong.
However the rest shakes out, Hampton at that price is a win they earned. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through cornerback. Will Fries gives the group a proven body among the projects.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the cornerback spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick13
Rnd1
Will Campbell
In pick No. 13 they get a building block for the line, reach and all.
Pick40
Rnd2
Tyler Warren
They talked themselves into Tyler Warren at the 40th pick, and the board did not agree. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick43
Rnd2
Tate Ratledge
Nice patience on Tate Ratledge, who had no business lasting to slot 43. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick74
Rnd3
Jahdae Barron
Somehow Jahdae Barron was still sitting there in the 74th overall pick, and they pounced on premier safety value. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick77
Rnd3
Omarion Hampton
They will replay Omarion Hampton at No. 77 for years; that is how good the value is. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick114
Rnd4
Parker Brailsford
Value said wait; Parker Brailsford in Round 4, Pick 13 says they were not listening. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick150
Rnd5
Deone Walker
You do not let an interior defensive lineman like Deone Walker reach pick No. 150 and blink. They did not. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick189
Rnd6
Barryn Sorrell
This one needs a full-page explanation: Barryn Sorrell in the 189th pick, miles early. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick203
Rnd6
Kyren Lacy
Kyren Lacy in the Round 6 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It fills a real need, too.
Pick228
Rnd7
Xavier Nwankpa
Taking Xavier Nwankpa in slot 228 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick244
Rnd7
Giles Jackson
Giles Jackson in pick 244 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The roster fit checks out.
